FAQ

Do I need to know Linux or server administration? No. DotDeployer configures the server for you. You point at a GitHub repo and one of six cloud accounts (Hetzner, DigitalOcean, Vultr, Akamai/Linode, AWS EC2), or bring a server you already have as Custom VPS.

What happens to my server if I cancel DotDeployer? Nothing. It’s your server, in your own cloud account (or your own hardware, for Custom VPS), billed by its provider, not DotDeployer. Cancelling DotDeployer stops us managing it; the server and everything on it keep running.

Is there an agent installed on my server? No. DotDeployer connects over SSH with a key pair it generates for your server. There’s nothing to uninstall if you move on.

Can I deploy more than one site to a server? Yes — sites are unlimited on every plan. Server count is the only thing plans meter.

What if a deploy fails halfway through? Your previous release stays live; a failed deploy doesn’t take your site down, and you can roll back to any earlier release in one click.

Can more than one person work in the same account? Yes, on the Team plan — see Teams for invites and roles.
