Connect Linode
Akamai (Linode) is Linode’s classic simplicity, now backed by Akamai’s network, across North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific and South America. Compute Instances start at $5/month on the Nanode 1GB plan (1 vCPU / 1 GB RAM / 25 GB SSD).
What you need: a Linode (Akamai Cloud Computing) account and a Personal Access Token with Linodes read/write scope.
Steps:
- In Linode’s Cloud Manager, generate a Personal Access Token with Linodes read/write scope.
- In DotDeployer, go to Settings → Providers, choose Akamai (Linode), and paste the token in. It’s encrypted before it’s stored.
- From Servers, click “Create server,” pick Akamai (Linode), and choose a size and region from Linode’s live list.
- Add your first site from a GitHub repo — DotDeployer provisions the Linode and deploys it.
Billing: the instance is created in your own Akamai (Linode) account and billed to you directly.
Token scope: the token can only do what DotDeployer needs to provision and manage Linodes. It’s encrypted at rest, and you can revoke it from Linode’s Cloud Manager at any time.
Still Linode: this is the same Linode people have used for years — it’s now sold and billed under the Akamai brand, but the compute product and API DotDeployer talks to are unchanged.
Once connected, Akamai (Linode) behaves exactly like every other provider in DotDeployer: the same Servers table, the same site tabs, the same deploy and rollback flow.
